Server Collection Interval/Duration
Hi All
How do we collect a week's worth of host performance data? It appears the longest time period is only 24hrs. Ideally my client wants to enable this & come back in 7 days... there is a possibility of setting up 7 x 24hr collections using the host Task Scheduler... but this is now more cumbersome to accomplish per host.
How do we tell the collector to run for 7 days across a number of hosts?
Thank you

To allow an Optical Prime collection to run for up to 7 days, the default option of "Establish a secure (HTTPS) connection to the Live Optics web service" must be selected. Once selected, the interface will allow selections of 10 minutes up to 7 days.

Hi Scott, thanks for that, actually just figured that out (downloaded collector to my laptop).
Is there any way to enable 7day collection without the continuous HTTPS connection? My client is already talking about security/connectivity concerns.
Thank you

No, this is by design to aid in keeping the file sizes down and to allow the collected data to be reviewed/watched as the collection is occurring for long periods of time. You can view the performance online in near real time.
As for security, all communications are over HTTPS. This would be the same if they collected to a local file and then uploaded it later.

Ok, thank you Scott. I'll discuss with them & see how it sits...

Can the collection be amended from 24hr to 7 days whilst the collection is still running?

Since the Live optics collector is not installed and only runs in the resident memory of the source machine where the EXE is launched, changing settings during a collector run is not available. If you have a current collector run that is running and you want to change it to a 7 day collector run, you will need to stop the current collector run and setup Optical Prime with the new 7 day duration in the configuration wizard.
