Participation Graphs

    Awesome question!

    Participation is a tricky thing that often hangs people up unnecessarily. Simply put this is a graph that shows when the server was responding to the collection polls.

    When all servers are participating this will look like a solid block of color. This would be the expectation, but not the rule.

    In the example below, I have demonstrated what it looks like when a server or two might be rebooting or glitched in communication.

    The collection software will attempt to reconnect back to the server if it does reboot.

    Ordinarily, this graph should only be considered if large chunks of this graph fall out for the remaining duration of the recording. That means it went off line and the collector never saw it come back!
