Overview
The vSAN ReadyNode Sizer is a tool built for sizing HCI workloads. The logic accounts for compute and storage requirements when sizing for a single and multi-workload environment. The vSAN ReadyNode Sizer is designed for vSAN. There are several overheads, performance-based limits, and vSAN specific features which have been accounted for in the logic. The tool offers a high degree of customizability in terms of feature selection as well as user-based options. This document provides information on vSAN for Live Optics.
Data & Security
This section explains in detail about the security protocols implemented when data is transferred from Live Optics to vSAN Sizer and also explains what the data points are those are sent to the sizer.
- Data Encryption & Transfer
The data is serialized into JSON and then encrypted with industry standard Algorithms. Live Optics and vSAN Sizer authenticate with each other based on shared secrets. Once the two tools authenticate initially, further communication is verified by the vSAN Sizer based on a pre-authenticated token. Other security protocols implemented require these authentication tokens to be always unique whenever they are generated and expire based on time.
- Data Points Transferred
The above table explains what data is taken from Live Optics and transferred over to the vSAN Sizer. Some fields are taken as-is, but one some fields we apply minor math which helps in sizing.
In the table, the first column, named ‘Live Optics Field’, lists what you see in Live Optics Report Dashboard. These are the fields that we take data from and send it over to vSAN Sizer.
Along with the assessment data, we also capture the Live Optics Logged in Users, First Name, Second Name and the email address.
