Overview
This article provides instructions on how to use the Request Capture feature in the Live Optics Portal. Request Capture allows you to send a request to an End User to enable them to run a Live Optics collection in their data centers. Once the Live Optics collector has completed , it will create projects of their data , allowing you to share your analysis.

Notification messages sent by Live Optics to both End User and requestor
The Live Optics portal will send email notifications to the email addresses for both the requester (Dell User)and End User. Within the notification message, there will be direct links to download the Live Optics collector software for the End User’s account.
If the End User did not have a Live Optics account, they will also receive an account activation message from Live Optics containing details on how to activate their portal account and setup their password.
NOTE: If the requester wants the Live Optics collector run data to be streamed to their account, it is important that the End User download the Live Optics collector software using the links provided in these email messages. Additionally, the email address should always be listed as a CC recipient in the Live Optics capture request messages sent from the Live Optics portal.
Download, extract and run Live Optics collector
The End User or requester should be able to download the Live Optics collector software using the links provided in the email previously sent, extract and execute the collector.
When the collector opens, the End User will find a “Requested” badge beside each assessment that the Dell User has requested.
The End User should follow the instructions for each individual requested collection, complete the requested collections.
Viewing the Project
How you view the project depends on the selection the user makes at the collection process. If the user has selected to Upload the Project now, the Live Optics collector software will automatically stream the collector run data back to the Live Optics servers. These streamed collector runs are automatically added to a project and can be viewed once the Live Optics software has started.
To view a project, visit the Live Optics Portal at www.liveoptics.com, sign in and click on the project name listed on your dashboard. If the user chose to Upload the Project Later, the Live Optics Collector software will collect the data and create an SIOKIT file and store it locally in a location of your choosing. This SIOKIT can then be sent to a Dell Representative or Channel Partner to review and synthesize the results or can be uploaded through the Live Optics Portal or the Collector (asset depending) which will create a project. To view that project, visit the Live Optics Portal at www.liveoptics.com, sign in and click on the project name listed on your dashboard. See knowledge base article How To Search for Projects in the Live Optics Portal for more information.
