New Features/Fixes
Data Domain Automated ASUP Retrieval - This new Live Optics Collector feature provides the option of an automated method for retrieving ASUPs. By specifying an IPv4 address the user can automatically retrieve all ASUP files from a Data Domain, which are then automatically uploaded to Live Optics, parsed and an Excel report is generated. ASUP upload (from a local folder) is still supported.
Known Issues
The current known issues for Data Domain are;
- The user must have an IPv4 address for a specific Data Domain, along with the credentials for administrative login in order to run this collection.
- Supported Data DomainOS’s: 6.2 and 7.0
- Data Domain OS versions after 7.0 will be supported in the subsequent versions. Support for versions prior to Data Domain OS 6.2 is not currently planned.
Known Limitations
The current known limitations of the Data Domain collections:
- The browser must be refreshed to see the project updates. Once the project is uploaded to the Web Portal, and the user must refresh the page in order to see the updated project status.
- Internet connection is required
- The Live Optics Collector services must be allowed through the user firewall to run a successful collection.

New Features/Fixes
This feature provides insight into Data Domain systemic health and data processing by parsing Data Domain Auto SUPport (ASUP) files. The files are to be provided by the user on a Windows workstation/laptop (via any drive mounted to the workstation with has read/write access enabled). This is useful for the assessment of Data Domains at sites where ASUPs are not sent home and which, therefore, are not available to SE’s within Dell EMC (i.e., customers who, by policy or preference, may choose not to transmit ASUPs from their Data Domain appliances).
Known Issues
The current known issues for the Data Domain collections are:
- The user must have the ASUPs for a specific Data Domain serial number in a folder on a Windows machine.
- All ASUPs from the same Data Domain arrays should be in the same folder. You can have multiple folders, each for a specific serial number, and they each will be processed as separate projects in Live Optics. All ASUP files should have a .txt extension (future updates may allow for broader file types, such as .msg) and not be compressed.
- Data Domain OS versions prior to 7.0 will be supported in future versions.
-
- Data Domain OS 6.2/6.3 are planned to be supported by end of Q1’21
- Processing of ASUPs is “quiet”, with no indication of progress. While the validation of ASUPs prior to upload is very efficient, uploading hundreds at once can take a few minutes. A progress bar will be provided in a soon-to-come release.
Known Limitations
The current known limitations for the Data Domain collections are:
- The browser must be refreshed to see the project updates. Once the project is uploaded to the Web Portal, and the user must refresh the page in order to see the updated project status.
- Internet connection is required
- The Live Optics Collector services must be allowed through the user firewall to run a successful collection.
