Overview
Live Optics supports the profiling of several data protection solutions. One of these is the NetWorker data protection software. Using the Live Optics collector, NetWorker raw output files can be uploaded to the Live optics portal to create a report. This document outlines the process to upload NetWorker output files previously generated by running the Live Optics NetWorker script.
Pre-Requisites
Before any of the following steps to create a report in Live Optics can be completed, the raw (.OUT) files must be generated.
Quick-Start Instructions
1. Download and launch the Live Optics Collector (Windows .NET version)
2. Click Get Started
3. Click “Yes, I agree” to accept the End User License Agreement (prompted only on first execution)
4. Click “Yes, this is me” after verifying your identity is correct (prompted only on first execution)
5. Select Data Protection from the left menu
6. Select NetWorker on the right
7. Select Script Collection (Supports NetWorker OS from 7.x to 18.x)
8. Select your OS and click Next
9. Click Select Folder, browse to the folder with the .OUT files, click OK
10. Click Next
11. Select the Upload Option, either upload automatically (recommended) or upload later
12. Click Next
13. If upload automatically was selected, enter the project name to be created, click Next
14. After the files are processed and optionally uploaded, click Quit to exit the application
Detailed Instructions
Download and run the Live Optics Windows collector software
1. There are two methods to download the collector software:
a. From the email you received from your systems consultant inviting you to Live Optics by clicking the Download Collector link.
b. From the Live Optics portal, select Collectors from the left menu, then Download Collector. For more information on how to download a Live Optics collector, please see the knowledge base article Download the Live Optics Collector. Either option will bring you to the Download Collectors page.
Start Profile Selection Process
2. Select Data Protection from the list of Category Types and select NetWorker from the list of Data Protection assets.
3. Select Script Collection. (This is the older version of the networker collection. This collection supports NetWorker OS versions from 7.x to 18.x)
4. From the Live Optics Collector, go to the Data Protection Category and select the NetWorker asset type from the list.
5. Select the operating system of the NetWorker host:
6. Select the location which contains the output files you created (by running the TSM script in the Scripts folder where you downloaded the Live Optics Collector), by clicking “Select Folder”
7. Here you have the option of uploading your files immediately or saving them in the form of an SIOKIT for upload at another time (or delivery to your Dell representative).
8. Enter your custom project name and click Next, and the project will start to upload
9. You now have the option of saving a copy of the project files as a SIOKIT or skip.
The process has been completed successfully
10. You now have the option of saving a copy of the project files as a SIOKIT or skip.
11. Once the upload has been completed. Click Quit to close the collector
12. An email from Live Optics will be sent when the project is ready for viewing on the web portal
Uploading the SIOKIT (applies only if the “upload later” was selected)
