Overview
The Optical Prime platform has always included the ability to gather and report performance statistics for VMWare and Hyper-V virtualized environments. With the inclusion of XenServer and KVM, Live Optics has increased its footprint within this sector. We also provide a feature for virtualized infrastructures by adding the ability to group Hypervisor clusters as well as report specific information for them.
The following instructions below describe how to access individual Hypervisors of Hypervisor clusters as well as the data specific for them. Additionally, the cluster specific performance information can be exported into an XML file for use outside of the Live Optics portal.
Prerequisite Information
- The Live Optics project for Optical Prime has already been created from one or more collector runs.
- Access to a Live Optics portal via an active account should already be completed before beginning the following steps. If you have never logged into Live Optics before, go to https://app.liveoptics.com/signup and request your account be created or contact your Dell Sales Team and request they register you to the Live Optics portal.
Access Performance View of project
- Locate and open project from Live Optics dashboard. For more information on how to search for your project, see knowledge base article How To Search for Projects in the Live Optics Portal.
- Once the project opens, click on the Performance View tab.
Select device list object to review hypervisor data
The hypervisor-centric statistics are available at the top project view for any Live Optics project as well any collector run containing a hypervisor node or cluster, an individual hypervisor node, or a hypervisor cluster.
You will be able to tell if there is any hypervisor data within an object selected if there is a tab called "Hypervisor" in the right-hand data window.
NOTE: Each time you click on a different hypervisor within the project, the data will automatically change.
Export Hypervisor stats to XML file
The data listed for the Hypervisors may be useful for other tasks outside of Live Optics. To facilitate this, a function to export the data to a XML file has been added to the Hypervisor tab.
Click on the "Export to XML" button and a file will be generated that contains the data contained for the current device highlighted.
