Optical Prime project, Excel – Field Definitions (01/04/19)

Overview

This document describes the fields in the Optical Prime project’s excel.

The Excel includes two tabs

  • Server data: includes all the data related to the physical servers in the project
  • VM Data: includes all the data related to the guests VMs running

If you project doesn’t have any VMs running, the VM data tab will not appear in the Excel spreadsheet.

The data in the Excel reflects the point in time in which the “inventory” is done by the Optical Prime collector.

The VM cluster name. If the server is not part of a cluster this field will be blank

The DNS name of the server

Operating System running on that server

Manufacturer of the server

CPU Sockets

Total number of sockets for the server

CPU Cores

Total number of cores for the server (not per socket)

CPU Description

CPU physical model

Net clock speed

Total CPU speed for all cores

CPU Clock speed

Clock speed per CPU core

Peak CPU percentage

Peak CPU utilization

Memory (KB)

Memory per server in KB

Peak memory usage (KB)

Peak memory used

Local capacity (GB)

Local disk capacity in GB

Free Capacity (GB)

Free local capacity in GB

IOP

Total IOPS per server

Read latency (ms)

Read latency in milliseconds

Write latency (ms)

Write latency in milliseconds

Queue depth

IOPS queue depth

MB/s

Throughput in MB/s

Read/Write ratio

The ratio of read and write IOPS

Guest VM count

Total number of VMs running on this server

 

VM Data

Cluster

The VM cluster name. If the server is not part of a cluster this field will be blank

Guest VM name

VM name as defined in VMware

Guest hostname

DNS name of the guest OS  

IsRunning

If the VM is running or not at the time of the “Inventory” phase of OP collector

Guest VM OS

Operating system of the VM

Virtual CPU

Total Virtual CPUs for the VM

Provisioned memory (bytes)

Total Memory allocated to the VM

Used memory (bytes)

Total used memory by the VM

Consumed memory (bytes)

Is a more precise measurement of consumed Used Memory outside the VMDK container assignment itself

Guest VM disk capacity (MB)**

VM max capacity as provisioned by the VMware tools/OS

Guest VM disk used (MB)**

VM actual allocated capacity as provisioned by the VMware tools/OS

Guest VM % occupancy *

Calculated as “Guest VM Disk used” / “Virtual Disk size”. This is a more realistic representation of the % disk utilization of the VM

Virtual disk size (MB)*

VM max capacity as provisioned by VMware

Virtual disk used (MB)*

VM actual allocated capacity as provisioned by VMware

VMware tools version

VMware tools version installed. If the user has a 3rd party VM tools this field might be blank

Hypervisor

Hypervisor (server) name as defined in VMware

** If the user has a 3rd party VMware tools installed the “Guest VM Disk Capacity” and “Guest VM Disk Used” fields might be not be available. In this case they will be calculated as the “Virtual Disk Size (MB)”
