Known deficiencies with the Live Optics for VMAX 1-2 Assessment (10-17-18)

This KB article lists the known issues in the latest version of Live Optics for VMAX 1-2.

Reset the STP Daemon on the Service Processor

The Live Optics software terminates and generates an error message when required information is missing from the BTP/TTP files. This scenario is generally caused by an error in the STP Daemon that is running on the Service Processor.   Live Optics recommends that you contact the local Customer Services person assigned to the system and request them to “reset the STP Daemon on the Service Processor” before running the collection. 

Top Storage Group by IOPs slide is blank (Slide 10). 

The latest revision of the Live Optics for VMAX 1-2 does not include information on the storage groups.  Users who require this information are advised to open a support ticket and request a manual run of the assessment software.

Excel File may be missing data or contain inaccurate data

The Excel file generated by the Live Optics for VMAX 1-2 software may be missing information or contain inaccurate information.  Users who require data in an Excel format are advised to open a support ticket and request a manual run of the assessment software.

Requesting a manual run of the VMAX 1-2 Assessment

To request a manual run of the VMAX 1-2 Assessment, follow this procedure:

  • Open a support ticket by sending email to support@liveOptics.com
  • Indicate in the email that you are requesting a manual run of VMAX 1-2
  • Include the Project ID associated with your project. The Project ID is a six digit number created when you upload your data.
  • If you have not uploaded your data, put the BTP/TTP and .bin files on an FTP server and include a link to the server. Alternatively, you can put the files on a One Drive or any other accessible share.
