Scan VMware vCenter with RAPID Discovery

RAPID Discovery scans networks to identify servers, virtual machines, and other assets in an environment. It also supports directly connecting to VMware vCenter environments. This scan provides a complete inventory of the VMs in a VMware environment. 

 

Prerequisites

  • RAPID Discovery requires a running VMware vCenter instance to connect to a VMware environment.
  • You must have read-only credentials with access to the VMware vCenter instance. 

 

  1. Open the Live Optics collector and select Server & Cloud. Choose RAPID Discovery from the list of asset types and click Next.

  2. Click Next on the Upload Option screen.

  3. Select Network Scan and enter the hostnames, IP addresses, or IP range of your VMware vCenter instance(s). Click Scan.

  4. As multiple vCenter instances can be scanned at once, click Credential Manager to create a credential group with access credentials for your selected vCenter systems.

  5. Click Generate Excel Report.

  6. Select the location in which you wish to save the report. A notification displays on screen when the report is ready to view.
